Prof. Nkechukwu Moses Ikegbunam — Founder, MRFSS
Prof. Nkechukwu Moses Ikegbunam is a highly respected molecular scientist and senior academic based in Nigeria, with deep expertise in molecular biology, pharmaceutical microbiology, and biotechnology. He serves as a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where he has played key roles in both teaching and research.
As the founder of the Molecular Research Foundation for Students and Scientists (MRFSS), Prof. Ikegbunam is committed to expanding access to modern molecular training, research support, and laboratory facilities for students and early-career scientists in South-East Nigeria. His work includes mentoring young researchers, leading collaborative malaria genomics and molecular diagnostics projects, and speaking at major scientific forums such as the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene Annual Meeting.
Prof. Ikegbunam’s research interests span antimicrobial resistance, malaria genetics, genotyping, and evidence-based laboratory techniques, and he has contributed to numerous scientific publications in these fields. His leadership at MRFSS reflects a strong commitment to building local scientific capacity and enabling high-impact research in the region.
